atelier _ in plain sight _

Mindmap

Which effects, unemployment and precarious work, reverberate on health? How many years of advantage distinguish, in terms of life expectancy, workers with an executive status compared to those who perform manual labor? What tools ensure workability and productivity to workers, as they age? What are the effects on women’s health, of their entry into the labor market? What is the role of reconciliation policies? If human capital is important for health, has access to education been the same for everyone in Turin in the last forty years? School career as well as the work one, can be permanently impaired by a disease?

OBJECTIVES AND RESULTS /

These are some of the questions behind the project Mindmap: health data and policies in Turin, workshops for actors in social and urban policies, designed to share research data, and planning and organizational experiences. And to reflect on setting up policies for health and well-being anchored to a vision that takes into account of the many dimensions – work, education, income, family – that determine the concrete set of opportunities of each individual. Four events, scheduled from November 2016 to January 2017, the workshops involve operators of local institutions, universities and research centers, third sector organizations and trade unions, social innovation and philanthropy organizations. The aim of the cycle is to inform on the results of an extensive research, Forty years of health and policies in the city of Turin, and open a debate on new local welfare models. Atelier results will be shared with a network of 13 cities in Europe, USA and Canada engaged in the completion of epidemiological studies to identify the interactions between urban environment and social, behavioral, psychosocial and biological determinants of the population.
